PURPOSE

The purpose of “threed3grees” is to discover the connection between the viewer and the subject of a piece. The idea originally springs from the concept of Six Degrees of Separation, which states that all people are six or fewer social connections away from each other. A play on this, “threed3grees” explores a more limited distance. For any viewer and photograph, there are at least three degrees of separation, when one counts the camera/lens as a person. How they interact, and how they relate dictates one’s perception of an image, and thus the conversation that forms around it.
